Solomon Islands New Energy Storage
HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS (11 September 2024)– The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Solomon Islands are joining other partners to help Solomon Islands transition to renewable energy with a transformational project that will accelerate renewable energy generation and battery storage system installation, support power sector reforms, and promote private sector participation in the renewable energy generation. These include the signing and landing of the 20 GWh sodium-ion battery project in Suining, Sichuan; the Jinlongyu solid-state battery materials project in Huizhou entering the approval stage; the rapid construction of the 4 GWh lithium battery project by Hubei Yijia Tong Technology Co., Ltd. in Hubei; and the steady advancement of Gaiya New Energy’s 3 GWh large cylindrical lithium (sodium) battery base in Zhejiang. Enhance safety management of energy storage industry projects
Challenges for any large energy storage system installation, use and maintenance include training in the area of battery fire safety which includes the need to understand basic battery chemistry, safety limits, maintenance, off-nominal behavior, fire and smoke characteristics, fire fighting techniques, stranded energy, de-energizing batteries for safety, and safely disposing battery after its life or after an incident. Japan Osaka smart energy storage equipment company
Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (President: Masataka Fujiwara, hereinafter referred to as “Osaka Gas”) has established Senri Grid Storage Co., Ltd., a joint venture with ITOCHU Corporation (hereinafter, “ITOCHU”) and Tokyo Century Corporation (hereinafter, “Tokyo Century”), to carry out the grid storage battery business (hereinafter, “this business”) in response to the adoption of the “FY 2022 Compensation: Subsidies for projects to support the introduction of distributed energy resources that will contribute to the expansion of renewable energy use (projects to support the introduction of grid storage battery systems and water electrolysis equipment)” which was publicly solicited by the Sustainable open Innovation Initiative.
